Myles Jack Wasn't Worth First Round Risk

Packers fans are upset after the first day of the draft. In related news, water is wet and the grass is green. Kenny Clark isn't going to wow anyone right now because he's not a player from Alabama and his teammate Myles Jack did not get drafted in the first round. He projected as a top 10 pick, and teams are scared off due to his knee injury.

A lottery ticket isn't a smart decision in the first round. Look at New England, they went after Dominique Easley two years ago in Round 1 who had multiple injury issues, and he ended up cut. There's no guarantee Jack would be a top flight linebacker for this team.  Jack could fit into the Packers system yet many see him as a tweener, not a legit middle linebacker. Green Bay went with the safe option, and I cannot fault them for that move. No one knows Jack's trajectory even if people are trying to make him an All-Pro.

The Bama thing blows my mind a bit. All three players - Reggie Ragland, A'Shawn Robinson and Jarran Reed are great run-stuffers, but there's no evidence they can do anything against the pass. Just because they went to Bama doesn't make them a sure thing.
