Andrew Shaw Suspended for Game 5

Andrew Shaw will not be on the ice tonight when the Chicago Blackhawks attempt to avoid elimination against the St. Louis Blues. Shaw received a one-game suspension for hurling a gay slur at an official in Game 4.  This is a major move by the National Hockey League and shows progress with keeping things like that off the front page of websites.

Some think this is a pivotal moment for gay rights and sports, and I'm not in that camp. NHL has done a better job with gay rights than any other professional sports league with their You Can Play campaign as well as other things.  Shaw not being out there will change things for Chicago.

Charlie.
