BrewCap Vol. 9: Garcia Dazzles as Peralta Struggles (Again.)

Year 2 of the BrewCap where we look at all of the things during one Milwaukee Brewers game. This is a rough year so we'll try to keep it light and humorous without getting too mad about things unless it's really terrible. As you will see here, this is a bare bones version and this is my way to not add things when they are unnecessary.

After the Brewers big win on Wednesday night, radio and Twitter began to get a little excited about the team. People thought maybe, just maybe, this was a decent team. I've said all along, I think they're closer to 73-76 wins, but that's not the point. A hilarious thing happened on Thursday as Milwaukee got one-hit by known Brewers killer Jaime Garcia and Wily Peralta struggled mightily again raising some major questions.

Player of the Day (Cardinals) - Jaime Garcia (P): All he needed was the Brewers bats to get his 2016 on the right foot. Garcia went complete only allowing one hit and striking out 13. Garcia isn't a strikeout guy, and Milwaukee has been much more patient than in years before yet that didn't happen on Thursday.  Brewers didn't get a hit until the sixth innng.

Golden Sombrero Honoree - Wily Peralta -  What a piss poor outing again for Wily Peralta. He cannot strike batters out, and it's causing disasters out on the diamond. Peralta's problems are highlighted with his two-strike pitches. He needs to find a new pitch quickly as the broadcast pointed out Peralta's slider isn't working right now. Maybe he needs to work in a cutter.

When This Game Turned - Second inning is a great example of Wily's scuffling to start the year. He gives up two straight hits then calms down with giving up a sac fly for a run then an out. Two outs with the pitcher up and Garcia gets a single. This gives Matt Carpenter an opportunity, and he delivers with a two-run double to make a 3-0 game.

Next Up: Milwaukee heads to Pittsburgh for a three-game weekend series with the Buccos. Jimmy Nelson will see if he can match what he did at Miller Park on the road. He squares off versus Jeff Locke who had mild success against the squad last year.

Charlie.
