If the Fiesta Bowl didn't happen, we are talking about Jaylon Smith going
somewhere in the top 10. Smith was one of the best linebackers in college football at Notre Dame. There has been a great deal of discussion here in Wisconsin if Smith is there at 55 in the second, do you draft him knowing the concerns? The answer is yes.
More and more, I think Green Bay is trading down to the high second round because the value is in the second and third rounds. If Ted Thompson gets an extra pick, Smith is a lottery ticket. If he's great, the Packers have the steal of the last 10 years, and if he isn't, it was the worth the risk, you never know until it's tested out. Smith would be an impact player in a couple of years.R Packers have a real keen eye on second round talent as some of Thompson's best picks come out of the second round.
Reggie Ragland is the one everyone wants at inside linebacker, and I'm unsure about him. He doesn't strike me as an upgrade from anyone on this roster. Smith would be an interesting route to solve the linebacker problem.
Charlie.
