Big news very late last night featuring Dee Gordon of the Miami Marlins, the
Milwaukee Brewers next opponent. They swept the Los Angeles Dodgers only to have Gordon drop his appeal and take his 80-game suspension. They are two PED's, and this is a bad look for baseball from an optics perspective.
For starters, Gordon is a very good player, and this is most notable player since Ryan Braun. He also is African-American which hurts as the MLB continues to grow the game to black audiences, and one of their prominent black baseball players gets busted. Further, there's the whole Barry Bonds is their hitting coach, and what does that mean for Gordon? That's completely reckless yet the media is banging that drum.
Baseball has the strictest penalties and tests yet players are still being caught for PED's. Gordon's brand doesn't change for me. I'm very anti-public shaming when a player does PED's. Mistakes happen and if Gordon did for injury recovery, he deserves to take thm.
Charlie.
